Dr. Rakesh Sapra has joined QRG Hospital as Director of Cardiology since September 2014. Prior to this, he was the Head of Cardiology at Fortis Escorts Hospital, Faridabad, for nearly 5 years (2010-2014). He was also Head of Cardiology at Artemis Hospital, Gurgaon for 3 years (2007-2010). Dr. Sapra had done MBBS from Gandhi Medical College, Bhopal in 1989. He then did his MD in Internal Medicine from PGIMER Chandigarh in 1993 and DM in Cardiology from AIIMS, New Delhi in 1996. He also did special training in Cardiac Electrophysiology from Mount Sinai Medical School, New York, USA and Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Boston, USA in 2001.

Specialization and Expertise
Dr. Sapra has been very active in the field of Interventional Cardiology and has over 18 years of rich experience. He has independently performed over 10000 vascular interventions including coronary angioplasties, balloon valvotomies, peripheral angioplasties including renal and carotid angioplasties and congenital interventions including PDA and ASD closures. He has keen interest in the field of electrophysiology and has performed numerous radiofrequency ablations including complex ablations using electromagnetic CARTO mapping. He also has extensive experience in implanting various pacing devices including implantable defibrillators and biventricular pacemakers (cardiac resynchronization devices).
Dr. Sapra has authored a number of publications, research papers and abstracts and has been actively involved in research work as well. He was also awarded Best Case award in 2006 at AICT conference in New Delhi. He is a life member of Cardiology Society of India.
