Coronary Angioplasty In India

Plaque buildup on your artery wall is a condition known as atherosclerosis. This condition can block your coronary artery, and that’s why you need coronary angioplasty in India. This surgery will open the blockage and ensure proper blood flow to your heart. Angioplasty is highly effective in treating coronary artery diseases. It can alleviate symptoms like shortness of breath and angina. Moreover, it reduces heart muscle damage and prevents heart attacks. Angioplasty restores the normal flow of blood through your artery. So, you must not delay the treatment to avoid death risks. Coronary angioplasty is also known as balloon angioplasty and percutaneous intervention.

Who are the right candidates for coronary angioplasty?

We have already said that coronary angioplasty in India helps in restoring blood circulation to your heart. Angioplasty is the right alternative when medications, a healthy diet, and several other factors have not worked for you. Your cardiologist will provide you with different treatment options. He will make his decision based on the severity of blockages and other health conditions. Angioplasty is used when the blockage is not much severe. Moreover, it is the right alternative for those who need emergency treatment. By opening the blockage, the surgeon can minimize the heart damage and restores the flow of blood to your heart. But, one major problem is that your artery can become narrow again. Surgeons reduce the chance of this risk by using medicine-coated stents. However, there are also some issues related to these stents.

Preparation for angioplasty

An intravenous line is placed in the arm to provide medicines and fluid to your body. These medications are effective for preventing blood clot formation. Moreover, you will feel sleepy after taking the medications. The part where the catheter is to be inserted should be shaved. The surgery team will clean the shaved part to make it numb and germ-free.

Describing the coronary angioplasty process

Before starting the surgical process, your surgeon will check the presence of any blockage of your coronary arteries. In case of the blockage of multiple arteries, he will detect the severity of the blockages and their locations. An angiogram and an x-ray image of your arteries will enable your cardiologist to analyze your condition. During this angiogram test, a catheter fitted to a balloon is put into a blood vessel. The catheter is threaded to your arteries. Then, your arteries will be treated with some dyes. After obtaining clear information, the surgeon starts angioplasty. Your cardiologist will inflate the balloon in this blockage while removing the plaque buildup from your artery wall. It opens the blocked artery and ensures better blood flow. The coronary arteries are present on the heart’s surface. A mesh tube, known as a stent, is inserted into the newly widened section of your artery. This stent is intended for holding up your artery and reducing the potential risk. Designed with metal mesh, stents look like springs. Drug-eluting stents have special coatings, and they are released continuously into the artery. They also play a role in preventing the blockage of your artery. You will be back at your home within 1 to 2 days of your operation. However, you must be careful of any signs of infections like swelling and redness. Your cardiologist will tell you everything about the medications that you should take for a faster recovery. Nurses will also check your blood pressure and other health conditions before discharging you from the hospital.

Coronary angioplasty risks

In a few cases, coronary angioplasty can cause some complications like
  • Damage to your blood vessels can cause bleeding.
  • Allergy to the dye
  • Irregular heartbeat
  • Kidney problems because of the dye
  • Heart attack
These risks are higher for women and patients above 75 years. But, scientific research on coronary angioplasty surgery has shown that it is a safe process for most patients. Connect to Tripo Heal for a consultation today.
